Important Membership Updates!
From the Spring 2025 semester on, AED will now be requiring all general members to complete two scholarship credits. All other general member requirements will remain the same. With a variety of events and opportunities available, we hope that this new requirement aims will enhance member engagement and support the continued growth and success of the organization. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Executive Board!

Forms and Deadlines:
Weekly Service Form is due Sunday, September 7th at 11:59PM!. Read the Service section of the weekly email BEFORE filling out this form.
New Member Application opens 8/29 and is due 9/10 at 11:59pm! Tell your friends! Visit the Prospective Members page for more information.
General Membership Form is due 10/01 after the 2nd GM at 11:59pm. It is REQUIRED FOR ALL GENERAL MEMBERS!
Be sure to review the Master Spreadsheet periodically throughout the semester for your credits. Email sahil_billakanti1@baylor.edu if you have any questions!
General Meeting Dates:
Our general meetings this semester will be from 7:30-8:30pm on 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, & 12/3! Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement.
Our first meeting will be in Foster 240!

Intramurals:
AED Intramurals are beginning! Interest form for Volleyball is out so fill it out ASAP if you’d like to participate and fulfill ⅔ of your social credit requirements for the year.

Service
Weekly Service Form and Updates
It’s time to fill out the signup sheet with your two top choices for weekly service!
The signup form will close on Sunday, September 7th at 11:59 PM. Please fill this out if you plan on being active this semester. To remain active, members will need to serve 10 hours at their respective volunteer site
Clinical Service Opportunities (If you are volunteering with one of these opportunities, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form)
Waco Family Medicine: Connor has contacted all applicants of Waco Family Medicine. Make sure to respond to Nicki if she emailed you, so she can finalize scheduling.
Ascension Providence: If you applied to Ascension Providence or are a returning volunteer, please email Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu. Applications for Ascension close on August 29th, so you can still apply!
Mission Waco Health Clinic: Please email taylor_sterzing1@baylor.edu if you have applied to this opportunity.
Bluebonnet Hospice: The application for this opportunity has been extended to September 1st, so you can still apply! Please reach out to rutger_vanhees1@baylor.edu and refer to the “Clinical Weekly Opportunities” email for more information.

Upcoming Large Service Events
AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu).
1 Large Service Event can be “carried in” from another organization per semester, and 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity.
Please check the Master Spreadsheet, and reach out to Lexi if there are any discrepancies in service credits!

Goodness with Genesis will be having their first LSE on September 4th at Earle Hall from 7:30 - 8:30 PM. Volunteers will be making cards for patients at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Sign-ups are limited.

Shepherd’s Heart Mobile Food Pantry

Salvation Army is also always accepting volunteers at their thrift store Monday-Saturday from 9:30 to 5PM.

Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

Interviews (9/11 and 9/12) in the BSB
We will be asking for volunteers to help interview potential new members for this semester! Sign up for NM Interviews on 9/11 and 9/12 from 6:00-9:00 pm to earn 1 scholarship credit if you sign up for 4 interview slots or check-in slots!
Important! We will have another recruitment event incentive this semester! For every prospective member you inform about a recruitment event, you will receive 1 raffle entry! The prospective member must list your name on the attendance sheet to be entered. After our events, we will give away a Merch Credit to one lucky winner! This is a super fun way to earn a NM social credit and possibly get some merch!

This year, the AED executive board will be highlighting exciting opportunities happening in the broader pre-health community!
