Service
Weekly Service Form: It’s time to fill out the signup sheet with your two top choices for weekly service! The deadline for the signup form has passed. Please contact Ada if you need to add a weekly service opportunity.
This form is required if you plan on being active this semester. To remain active, members will need to serve 10 hours at their respective volunteer site
Clinical Service Opportunities: If you are volunteering with one of these opportunities, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form. Please make sure to email your respective chair to notify them of your intent to volunteer. More information can be found in the Clinical Weekly Email sent on January 4th.
Ascension Providence: If you applied to Ascension Providence or are a returning volunteer, please email Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu.
Waco Family Medicine: If you applied to WFM or are a returning volunteer, please email connor_dixon1@baylor.edu. Make sure to respond to Nicki if she has emailed you so she can finalize scheduling.

Upcoming Large Service Events
AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu).
1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity. Additionally, Loaves of Love and Goodness with Genesis can only count for 1 LSE.
Please check the Master Spreadsheet, and reach out to Ada if there are any discrepancies in service credits!

Join us at our Diaper Wrapping event on Thursday, April 23rd, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. We will be hosting an LSE for AED members with the McLennan County Diaper Collective to wrap and package all the diapers that we have collected for distribution. You can also earn an LSE credit by dropping off diapers to Ada or Olivia! See the pay-for-credit LSE section for details.

Goodness with Genesis will be holding an LSE on April 23rd at Earle Hall from 7:30 - 8:30 PM.
Volunteers will be making cards for patients at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Sign-ups are limited. Fill out this form to register. Reach out to aadi_sharma1@baylor.edu if you have questions.
Update: You must attend 2 Goodness with Genesis to earn 1 LSE credit.

Earn an LSE credit by registering for the Mission Waco RaceONE on Saturday, April 25th. Register to run either a 5K or 1 Mile and “vote” for Mission Waco as your organization on the day of the race. More information can be found on this website.
Receive credit by sending a confirmation of registration and a picture at the race to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu) or Olivia (olivia_hayes2@baylor.edu)!

World Hunger Relief Farm will be hosting an LSE on April 29th from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. Volunteers help out by pulling weeds, assisting with field turnover, adding mulch to the Urban Homestead, and other tasks around the farm.

Loaves of Love will be happening biweekly on the following Fridays: 5/1 in Earle Classroom from 5:00 - 6:00 PM.

Pay-for-Credit LSE (4/12-4/23):
We are helping McLennan County Diaper Collective host a drive for diapers these next two weeks. There is no government assistance for diapers, so MCDC is a non-profit in Waco that aims to fill this gap and runs solely on donations. To earn an LSE credit, please bring a package of diapers (any size; at least 100 diapers) to GM 6 (4/22).
Diapers should be HEB/Walmart brand (does not have to be name-brand diapers)
Please do not purchase pull-ups, just regular diapers
Diapers run in sizes from newborn to 7
We will also be having an LSE with MCDC on Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM to wrap and package all the diapers that we have collected for distribution. Sign up using this form.
Please reach out to Ada at ada_khoja1@baylor.edu if you are not able to drop off the diapers at the next two general meetings!
AED National Scholarship:
Eligibility Requirements:
Be or have been a national member of AED
Be a member of an active chapter
Be a graduating senior or within two (2) years post-graduation
Be accepted to or currently enrolled in a medical, dental, or other healthcare-related professional school
Please fill out this Google Form by April 22nd (Day of GM#6) at 11:59 pm, and the Executive Board will submit your application to the AED National office!

We are so excited to announce that the New Member Service Project this semester is open to GMs!!
Here are the details: Salvation Army on April 25th from 1-4:30 PM @ 4721 W Waco Dr, Waco, TX 76706
Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes.
Fill out this form if you want to attend (GMs only)
This event is a Large Service Event (LSE).
However, if you are still missing your New Member Social Credit, you can substitute this event for your NM Social Credit if you are in need of the credit. (You may only do this if you are still missing the NM Social Credit. If you already have one, this even will count as an LSE)
You may not get both credits
Reminder: Enzymes and substrates must attend a social together in order to complete the E/S requirement! Send Molly or Neva a selfie together at the event to get checked off.

Pre-Health Spotlight
Research Opportunity!
Here is a great opportunity to get research experience at the Trakselis Lab that would help you along your pre-med track to further understanding of biochemistry-related topics, as well as open other opportunities in clinical or industry jobs.
PhD Student Miguel Rodriguez Escalante
Currently looking for undergraduate students to help conduct and expand my research in the TrakLab. My project specifically focuses on understanding how single-stranded binding proteins (SSBs) bind to ssDNA and oligomerize.
About the Trakselis Lab
We focus on protein-DNA studies, both in vivo and in vitro, especially understanding the different protein interactions found in the replication and repair fork, as well as the dynamics when it fails. Our work is highly related to cancer as we study the proteins that cancer therapeutics target.
Requirements
• Freshmen to juniors
• Research availability of ~10 hrs per week
• At least 1 semester of biology and chemistry courses
• No prior research experience needed, but encouraged
