Pre-Health Spotlight

Research Opportunity!

Here is a great opportunity to get research experience at the Trakselis Lab that would help you along your pre-med track to further understanding of biochemistry-related topics, as well as open other opportunities in clinical or industry jobs.

  • PhD Student Miguel Rodriguez Escalante

    • Currently looking for undergraduate students to help conduct and expand my research in the TrakLab. My project specifically focuses on understanding how single-stranded binding proteins (SSBs) bind to ssDNA and oligomerize.

    • About the Trakselis Lab

  • We focus on protein-DNA studies, both in vivo and in vitro, especially understanding the different protein interactions found in the replication and repair fork, as well as the dynamics when it fails. Our work is highly related to cancer as we study the proteins that cancer therapeutics target.

    • Requirements

    •     •    Freshmen to juniors

    •     •    Research availability of ~10 hrs per week

    •     •    At least 1 semester of biology and chemistry courses

    •     •    No prior research experience needed, but encouraged

    • If Interested:

      • Contact Dr. Michael Trakselis at michael_trakselis@baylor.edu explaining your motivation to do research, why our research caught your attention, as well as your current and future goals. Also attach your resume or CV to the email.
