Important Membership Updates!

From the Spring 2025 semester on, AED will now be requiring all general members to complete two scholarship credits. All other general member requirements will remain the same. With a variety of events and opportunities available, we hope that this new requirement aims will enhance member engagement and support the continued growth and success of the organization. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Executive Board!

General Meeting Dates:

  • Our general meetings this semester will be from 7:30-8:30pm on 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, & 12/3! Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. 

  • Our next meeting will be in BSB D110!

Intramurals:

AED Intramurals are beginning! Ultimate Frisbee has been filled so get excited!! If you are at all interested in Flag Football, please fill out the interest form so we can get a team going! Stay on the lookout for more interest forms in the future if you would like to participate in IM’s and fulfill ⅔ social credits for the semester. Text Tyler (630) 346-9545 with any questions!

Scholarly Events

AED x ASDA interview Workshop

Have an interview coming up and want to practice before the big day? Well come to the AED x ASDA Interview Workshop on Wednesday 6:00 - 7:30 pm in Cashion (Cashion 102) to hear from Dr. Kellaway, the Associate Dean of admissions at Long School of Medicine, to hear tips and tricks to knock your next interview out of the park! After her presentation, we will have mock interviews with juniors and seniors to hone your skills, giving you a competitive edge as an applicant. Attendees will earn 1 scholarship credit.

Upcoming Large Service Events

AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu).

  • 1 Large Service Event can be “carried in” from another organization per semester, and 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity. Additionally, Loaves of Love and Goodness with Genesis can only count for 1 LSE.

  • Please check the Master Spreadsheet, and reach out to Ada if there are any discrepancies in service credits! 

    • The Salvation Army LSE will has moved to Saturday, September 27th from 9:30 - 11:30 AM. Volunteers will be helping out at the thrift store. Sign-ups are limited. Fill out this form to register. Reach out to brahmi_prayaga1@baylor.edu if you have questions.

    • Goodness with Genesis will be holding an LSE on September 25th at Earle Hall from 7:30 - 8:30 PM. Volunteers will be making cards for patients at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Sign-ups are limited. Fill out this form to register. Reach out to aadi_sharma1@baylor.edu if you have questions.

    • The Waco Ironman has volunteering opportunities on multiple dates/times from October 2nd to October 5th. Use the following link to register for a slot. Additionally, please fill out the following Google form with the date and activity you have signed up for after registering.

AED X MSO Summer Mission Trip

AED and MSO will be going on a joint Mission Trip next year to Cape Town, South Africa and partnering with One More Child and Living Hope! More information can be found on the application link and our upcoming interest meetings (see below).

Dues

  • Semester Dues are $25 and must be paid by GM #3 (10/15)!

  • Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

  • Dues can be paid to our Venmo: @BaylorAED or Zelle: “ALPHA EPSILON DELTA” at aed.txbeta@gmail.com

  • Do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED

  • Feel free to reach out to Danny at danny_le1@baylor.edu for any questions or if Venmo does not work for you.

Fundraising

MOD Profit Share Wed 10/1

Please join us for a pizza dinner on 10/1, the night of GM#2 (this event is NEXT WEEK

  • WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT, the top 3 fundraisers throughout October will earn an extra $1000 which can be used to fund better events for you or even extra scholarships!

  • If you attend, email danny_le1@baylor.edu with a receipt OR selfie to earn 1 social credit!


New Member Events

  • AE-Detect & Collect on 9/28 from 1-4pm at Fountain Mall

    • Come to our FIRST ever AE-Detect & Collect! A campus-wide scavenger hunt, New Members and general members will team up to try and find the clues as fast as possible! Come for fun, food, and friends and get 1 New Member Social Credit in the process. Fill out the interest form to let us know you’re coming!

  • Upcoming Events

    • NM Bingo on 10/05 from 4:00-6:00pm in SUB Barfield

      • Come play bingo with us! GMs can buy bingo cards to play 6 action packed rounds of bingo and each winner gets a PRIZE BASKET! Each GM gets their first bingo card for $1, after that GMs can buy 1 card for $3 or 3 for $6. Come for fun, food, and friends and get 1 New Member Social Credit in the process. Fill out the interest form to let us know you’re coming!

This year, the AED executive board will be highlighting exciting opportunities happening in the broader pre-health community! 

Hillis Scholars Program

The application to join the William & Argye Hillis Scholars in Biomedical Sciences Program is now open! If you are a Pre-Medical Sophomore or Junior, attend an interest meeting from the flyer below to learn more about this exciting opportunity for mentorship, research, and community!

Novus Cura

The Medical Service Organization is hosting an exciting TedTalk-style speaker event featuring student speakers on Friday, October 3rd from 6:00 - 8:30 pm in Foster 240. Speakers compete to win a $1000 scholarship, and the last day to sign up to speak is September 17th. Send a selfie from the event to ian_stahl1@baylor.edu to earn 1 scholarship credit for attendance at the event.

Interested in learning about learning about how the military can help pay for professional school? Come to the USAF HPSP Interest event on Oct 2nd at 6:00 pm in BSB B110 to learn more! There will be food for all attendees!
