Important Membership Updates!

From the Spring 2025 semester on, AED will now be requiring all general members to complete two scholarship credits. All other general member requirements will remain the same. With a variety of events and opportunities available, we hope that this new requirement aims will enhance member engagement and support the continued growth and success of the organization.   • Our general meetings this semester will be from 7:30-8:30pm on 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, & 12/3! Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement.

Avalon University Workshop

  • Learn about AUSOM’s new accredited program, admission process, application tips, and ask any questions you may have! Workshop will take place from 7:30-8:30 in C105 on Thursday, October 23rd.

Service

If you are volunteering with a Clinical Service Opportunity, please email your respective chair (if you haven’t already)!

  • Please check the master spreadsheet to see your assigned service opportunity! This is required to be considered active. Reach out to Ada if you have not yet filled out the form!

  • If you are concerned about a weekly service time commitment, car/carpool situation, or if you are already involved in a valuable service that you are passionate about, please reach out to Ada at ada_khoja1@baylor.edu with any questions!

  • Pickleball tabling will be taking place next week at the BSB on Monday, 10/27 and Tuesday, 10/28 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Earn up to 1 weekly hour by signing up for 2 slots!

Upcoming Large Service Events

AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu).

  • 1 Large Service Event can be “carried in” from another organization per semester, and 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity. Additionally, Loaves of Love and Goodness with Genesis can only count for 1 LSE.

  • Please check the Master Spreadsheet, and reach out to Ada if there are any discrepancies in service credits! 

    • Bluebonnet Hospice will be hosting two Trunk-or-Treat events at some of its nursing facilities where they have patients. They are looking for volunteers to help out! Volunteers can attend on Tuesday 10/21 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and/or Tuesday 10/28 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

    • Shepherd’s Heart will be hosting an LSE on Saturday 10/25 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Waco Health Department. Volunteers will be working at the Mobile Food Pantry to help package food and resources for distribution to the local Waco community.

    • Humane Society will be having their annual Howloween Bash this Saturday, 10/25 starting at 6:00 PM. Volunteers will be assisting in set-up or take down and other fun tasks throughout the night. Volunteers are provided dinner and encouraged to come dressed in costumes! 

    • Goodness with Genesis will be holding an LSE on October 23rd at Earle Hall from 7:30 - 8:30 PM

      • Volunteers will be making cards for patients at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Sign-ups are limited. Fill out this form to register. Reach out to aadi_sharma1@baylor.edu if you have questions.

      • Goodness with Genesis can only count for one of your LSE credits.

    • Loaves of Love will be happening biweekly on the following Fridays: 10/31, 11/14, 12/5 in Earle Classroom from 5:00 - 6:00 PM

AED X MSO Summer Mission Trip

AED and MSO will be going on a joint Mission Trip next year to Cape Town, South Africa and partnering with One More Child and Living Hope! More information can be found on the application link and our upcoming interest meetings (see below).

Dues

Dues are now $35 if you have not paid them yet! Make sure to pay them before the end of the semester if you wish to remain an active member

  • Do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED

AED’s 3rd Annual Pickleball Tournament:

AED’s 3rd Pickleball Tournament! Grab a partner and win eternal glory on Saturday 11/8 from 5:00-9:00pm, come play for awesome pickleball prizes! If more than 6 teams from AED signup, the registration fee for each team drops from $15 to $10, so tell your fellow members to sign up!
