General Membership Form is due 2/18 after the 2nd GM at 11:59pm. It is REQUIRED FOR ALL GENERAL MEMBERS!

General Meeting Dates:

Our general meetings this semester will be from 7:30-8:30pm on 2/4, 2/18, 3/4, 3/25, 4/8, 4/22! Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. All meetings will be in BSB D110!

Palentine’s Delivery

Scholarly Events

PHS Hosting Important Dates:

  • PHS Host Training: February 4th at 6:00 PM in BSB D110

    • In order to be a host, you are REQUIRED to attend host training. If you are unable to make it, let Vivian know. 

  • PHS Host spots still available!:

    • PHS Host Signup: Host spots are still open! If you host for PHS, you will get 1 on 1 time with your representative, and you will receive 2 scholarship credits.

      • If there are no more spots available, you can join the waitlist section on the SignUp Genius.

  • Pre-Health Symposium is coming soon!

    • Save the date for Pre-Health Symposium is Saturday, February 14th. If you attend a breakout session at PHS, you will earn 1 scholarship credit. 

Service

Weekly Service Form: It’s time to fill out the signup sheet with your two top choices for weekly service! The deadline for the signup form has passed. Please contact Ada if you need to add a weekly service opportunity. 

  • This form is required if you plan on being active this semester. To remain active, members will need to serve 10 hours at their respective volunteer site

Clinical Service Opportunities: If you are volunteering with one of these opportunities, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form. Please make sure to email your respective chair to notify them of your intent to volunteer. More information can be found in the Clinical Weekly Email sent on January 4th.

  • Ascension Providence: If you applied to Ascension Providence or are a returning volunteer, please email Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu.

  • Waco Family Medicine: If you applied to WFM or are a returning volunteer, please email connor_dixon1@baylor.edu. Make sure to respond to Nicki if she has emailed you so she can finalize scheduling.

  • Bluebonnet Hospice: Please reach out to rutger_vanhees1@baylor.edu if you have questions about this opportunity.

  • Mission Waco Health Clinic: If you applied to the Mission Waco Health Clinic or are a returning volunteer, please email taylor_sterzing1@baylor.edu.

Upcoming Large Service Events

AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ada (ada_khoja1@baylor.edu).

  • 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity. Additionally, Loaves of Love and Goodness with Genesis can only count for 1 LSE.

  • Please check the Master Spreadsheet, and reach out to Ada if there are any discrepancies in service credits! 

    • Goodness with Genesis will be holding an LSE on February 12th at Earle Hall from 7:30 - 8:30 PM

      • Volunteers will be making cards for patients at the Dallas Children’s Hospital. Sign-ups are limited. Fill out this form to register. Reach out to aadi_sharma1@baylor.edu if you have questions.

      • Update: You must attend 2 Goodness with Genesis to earn 1 LSE credit.

    • Loaves of Love will be happening biweekly on the following Fridays: 2/20, 2/27, 3/27, 4/10, 4/24 in Earle Classroom from 5:00 - 6:00 PM

    • We will be hosting a Crocheting LSE in collaboration with Baylor Crochet Club on Saturday, February 21st from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Come join AED and Crochet Club members in crocheting scarves to donate for the local homeless shelters. No experience is required and food may be provided…

      • Fill out this form to sign up! Spots are limited to make sure to sign up soon. Reach out to ada_khoja1@baylor.edu if you have questions. 

    • Shepherd’s Heart will be hosting an LSE on Saturday, February 28th from 9:30 - 11:30 AM at the Waco Health Department. Volunteers will be working at the Mobile Food Pantry to help package food and resources for distribution to the local Waco community.

Finance

Dues

Semester Dues are $25 and must be paid by GM #3 (3/4)!

  • Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

  • Dues can be paid to our Venmo: @BaylorAED or Zelle: “ALPHA EPSILON DELTA” at aed.txbeta@gmail.com

  • Do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED

  • Feel free to reach out to Danny at danny_le1@baylor.edu for any questions or if Venmo does not work for you

Fundraising

Valentine’s Bake Sale

  • Volunteers and donors will receive weekly service hours/LSE credit! (see signup sheets for more details)

  • There will also be a competition for the best donated home-baked good! We will have voting at the next General Meeting, and the winner will receive a prize!!!

MedTalk answers this challenge by providing the perspectives physicians on the cutting edge of their respective fields, highlighting how they are shaping the future of medicine
